now this is where things start getting a little more confusing. upper left hand corner, there's the prime symbol. on the other hand, seasons one through six, included with prime, and again you'll notike. so if you buy the hd version it's not like it's going to look like a modern tv show- downton abbey. and just so you know, this show was not filmed in high definition. it does not have the prime stiker on the side and therefore you don't know what you're going to get. on the other hand, walton's, the hair, the waltons. so this is what you're paying for with that, say you know, hundred dollars a year prime membership. it sees the heavenly kit at the top, but under the watch now it says included with prime. that prime stiker means that that is a feature film or tv show available for amazon prime members and if you click on it you'll even see notike. look at the left corner of this one, the lacie peterson story, and look in the left corner of jack ryan and the left corner of jay and silent bob, the reboot- see that little prime stiker. now why do i have to pay for this? why does it have commercials? the difference is in the labeling. but when you look at the watch next section- which a lot of people do because it's the first thing up there- you can easily make the mistake of choosing something that either has ads or it's something that's for sale or for rent and people say, well, you know, why is amazon telling me i've got to rent movies. they've updated it and you see the top of it looks more or less like it always has, or at least like it has for the last couple of years. like we can now look on the new amazon prime app.
but lately i've been hearing people say: well, why is amazon showing commercials now? well, it is and it isn't, and i'm going to explain what is going on and how to try to avoid the confusion, because it is confusing. but we've gotten used to things like netflix and amazon prime as being commercial free, kind of a premium experience app. pluto tv and apps like it are regular streaming options with ads that almost look like tv. hulu has an ad free option and an option with ads. and here's the thing: if you've gotten used to streaming by now, you kind of know how it works. this video is brought to you by the streamingadvisorcom tailor your entertainment with streaming.
